Percy Park 34, Darlington Mowden Park 7

Without hitting the heights of December’s away win against Alnwick, Park still had enough to beat a determined DMP side which commendably played hard from the first to last whistle. Park finished the first “third” comfortably leading 17-0 despite some players seemingly being on the pitch in body alone as in fact was the case throughout the match. What was a hard fought victory extended Park’s winning streak to six games and took the team’s points scored total over the 400 mark for the season.

Sunday, 8th January, 2012.

Novocastrians 0, Percy Park 50.

Park attacked from the kick off and for about 15 minutes their opponents barely had a sniff of the ball by which time the result was already decided. Novos’ line was successfully crossed five times in the first half and three in a more competitive second half but the coaches perhaps were more pleased by the fact that Park’s defence was not breached at all.

U13 v Tynedale (away)

Tynedale 0, Percy Park 41.

Park travelled to Corbridge with a full squad allowing a full 15-a-side and a 10-a-side game to be played concurrently. The 10-a-side game was a unanoumously victory to Park with Harry Harrison scoring his first two tries for the club and Will Welsh running in 11 tries for Park and then two further for Tynedale!

The full 15-a-side match was another convincing Park vicyory: two quick tries within the first five minutes of play put Park in an ascendancy which they were in no mood to relinquish. While Park ran in seven tries the coaching staff was more likely to have been pleased by the fact that the team withstood some concerted Tynedale attacks and didn’t allow a try to be scored - this was probably the best all round team performance they had seen.

U13 Alnwick

Sunday, 11^th December, 2011.

Alnwick 12, Percy Park 31.

Ten minutes into the game Park looked to be on course for a very heavy defeat after gifting Alnwick two try scoring opportunities which were ruthlessly taken.

The first try was converted, the second not, and trailing 12-0, Park’s pack then produced a drive which took play deep into their opponent’s territory. It was this forward effort proved to be the spark that ignited a stirring comeback.

U13 v Tynedale 27th November

Sunday, 27th November.
Percy Park 33, Tynedale 22.

Both clubs fielded a development squad fixture in a great eaxample of cooperation between the the clubs. Winger Alex Wright’s third and fourth tries of the game made sure of a hard fought victory that had looked in doubt mid-way through the second half. Park had established a comfortable 21-7 lead at half time but a never say die Tynedale side fought back to narrow the deficit to just four points. Not long after he had been put back on the pitch, the ball was in Wright’s hands and the recent rugby league convert sped away along the left hand flank to score behind the posts.
