U16's v Darlington

Darlington 38 - Percy Park 26

Park made the journey south to Blackwell Meadows with a large squad but still missing a few regulars due to injury and revision. The game started briskly with a converted score from Darlington that was immediately answered by Park. The first half continued with end to end play: thankfully the Darlo ref was young enough to keep up with play unlike the linesmen who were showing their age after the first 10 minutes!

Park dominated the forwards play and some great driving mauls paid dividends, the backs looked dangerous in attack but their defence was not up to scratch and Darlington kept finding a way through some weak tackling. The first half ended with honours pretty much even and both teams looking to squeeze a second half win.

As the second half wore on Park's frustrations led to a yellow card and Darlington capitalised on the numerical superiority with a couple of quick fire tries. The game ended with a great score from Park but as the conversion flew over the whistle blew and Park had run out of time to close the gap.

Darlington are a great bunch and the game was played in good spirits by two evenly matched teams - both clubs are now desperate for a return fixture to test themselves again. Thanks to all concerned and best wishes to Taff who we understand is recooperating after an operation

U16's v Tynedale

Tynedale 22 - Percy Park 10

Forced to make changes to their front row, back row, half backs and wings and thankful that Tynedale were prepared to  lend them a hooker Percy Park were never short of effort in this game but to be honest they never quite matched Tynedale’s all round game.

The early exchanges set a pattern Park dominating the scrums and Tynedale dominating the breakdown this resulted in plenty of possession for Park but mostly in their own 22.

U16's v Durham City

Durham City 27 Percy Park 7

Percy Park travelled to Durham on Sunday with several changes to the team. Aaron switched to tight head to cover for an injury to Dan and the unavailability of Harry, Sam stepped in to loose head and  Miles stepped up in to 2nd row to cover for the injured Morgan. Ominously Park lost their first scrum against the head and then on 4 minutes lost hooker Adam to injury; Ross came on as hooker thus making up an entirely new front row combination.

U16's v Alnwick

Percy Park 67 – Alnwick 5

On a day ideal for rugby Percy Park eventually overwhelmed a determined Alnwick…

Park started the game brightly using their much bigger forwards as a battering ram; however despite the majority of possession Park could make little headway against a resolute Alnwick defence. Park were not functioning as a back line and repeatedly spilled the ball in mid-field, these mistakes giving Alnwick a territorial advantage in the early stages.

U16's v Blyth

Park overcome determined Blyth…

A great display from Park saw 7 tries scored across the forwards and backs: A blockbusting effort from Morgan, a clinical finish from his second row partner Mark, a classic winger’s try from Josh, a determined tracking try from fellow winger Alex and a fantastic hat trick from Seb.
