Northern 5 Predators 24

Park gained revenge for the fixture before Xmas by beating their old friends and foes Northen at McCracken Park.To be fair Northern's squad was not at full strength but despite this nothing should be taken away from the performance  .Park settled the quickest and foillowing a strong run by Sutherland he broke tackles and went in under the posts for Groves to add the conversion. Then a fantastic rolling maul ended with another try to put us 12 up.

The new half back pairing of walker and atkinson gelled quickly and Park continued to dominate. Some good work at the line 40 yards out ended with Cassidy finishing of a great solo effort.

Then Northern came back at us some god work by their backs stretched us and they scored in the corner and just before half time they did the same again but dropped the ball on the line,a bit of a let off.

We started brightly again in the second half and a fantastic sweeping move saw Churchill run in for one of the tries of the season folowing great work by sutherland and Ward.

That was the end of the scoring and probably our best performance of the season, durham City at home next week

Park came through a feisty encounter with a good win.with only 16 players available through injuries the squad showed a gritty determination to overcome the opposition who did not make good use of the amount of possession they had.The back row of Rogerson, wylde and Caulfield was particularly destructive and allowed Blaydon no time at the set piece, similarly the pressure in the centre of the park from groves,Fisher and sutherland meant that most of Blaydons play broke down at stand off.

Despite the game being marred by some unsightly flare ups both teams played a high tempo game with Park coming away with the spoils thanks to tries by cassidy and Caulfield either side of the inteval,Groves converting both.

The strength of Park's squad was aptly demonstrated on sunday with an emphatic victory over Morpeth. Both sides he players missing on duty for Northumberland and Park played two debutants from the u15's in the front row who put in stout performances.

Park opened the scoring with Middlemiss crashing over from the base of the ruck and this was soon added to by some slick footwork from Lake who put Williams in who sprinted home from the 22.

Park were resolute in defence and were put in considerable pressure by Morpeth who despite having alot of ball continually chose the same options and were unable to break our defence.A great individual try by Oscar was followed by a try for Fisher who showed great body strength to shrug off a Morpeth challenge,Oscar rounded off the scoring with his second and the Predators fifth try to round off an emphatic victory.

Some real positives ,Henderson in at scrum half put in a great shift as did both wingers,Jefferson playing his first game at prop was outstanding  and the sheer physicality of Caulfield and Wylde was too much for Morpeth.

Still unbeaten we now host northern at the weekend who we understand have not lost for 14 games.
